Major Launch: Grouping Records in Stackby

After 1.5 years of repurposing and refactoring the grid for optimised performance, we’re pleased to launch ‘Grouping’ records in Stackby. Currently in beta.

This was by far the hardest task we undertook, as it involved almost redoing the entire codebase for the grid while improving the grid performance, managing 1000s of test-cases and keeping up with our growing user-base with growing expectations.

Many of our users were wanting this feature where they could:

  • Segment their growing tables in groups by Status, Category, Type, Channel or more
  • Ability to create reports that summarise their Stackby rows in a flexible way.

With the launch of grouping, you can now arrange your table’s records in groups that you can expand or collapse, visualise your records much better or even look at the summary of each of the groups for a more flexible and quicker reporting. Say bye to pivot tables and complicated reports forever.

Click to Group

With Stackby, it’s as easy to click the ‘Group’ button on the toolbar in any grid view:

Inline Editing

Unlike many other reporting tools, Stackby’s grouped rows allow you to directly manipulate and edit the records, on the fly, not just tally them up. With this feature, you can create fluid project workflows by simply dragging a row from one stage to another and editing it inline.

Flexible Reporting

Each group gets its own summary bar for you to visualize records:

Few examples from the countless possibilities of the things you can achieve with Grouping :rocket:

  1. Segment records by Status or Lead in your Sales CRM
  2. Segment records by Type, Channel or Date in your Content Production workflow
  3. Segment records by Position in your Applicant Tracker workflow
  4. Summarise records by creating segmented groups and track KPIs of each group in any workflow.

We’re always striving to be better and are trying to fulfil the promises given to this community with regards to new features and updates. Our constant pursuit has been to increase the value of the platform to our users and be the no-code platform of choice to power your business and personal workflows.

We’re leaving no stone unturned in this pursuit and are absolutely committed and grateful to this community for helping us grow Stackby to what it is today

Please give your feedback on Grouping and do reach out to us on support chat or on support@stackby.com if you find any issues/bugs or have suggestions for improvements.

Note: Grouping only supports ability to group a single column at a time right now. But ofcourse, you can create multiple grouped views for different columns in your table.
